Over time, wildernesses like the Serengeti are becoming increasingly rare. Every one of us has a responsibility to protect this land, this country, this planet. At Nyota, nearly all of the wood, our furnishings and artwork are locally sourced. All of our staff are Tanzanian and we believe in investing heavily into their well-being and professional development.

We know if that we ever had to move Nyota, there would be no visible signs we were ever there. The simplicity of the Serengeti would be restored very quickly.

There is a ‘trash in, trash out’ policy in all of the National Parks in Tanzania.  Any materials that we cannot reuse or recycle are packed up and transported to the nearby town of Ikoma.

All of our water is sourced from a nearby well (filled from groundwater) It is then filtered through a high-tech machine that removes any impurities, making it safe to drink and to clean your teeth.  This reduces the amount of plastic used at Nyota significantly.

Our Location

Nyota Luxury Tented Camp is situated in a prime location in Seronera, in the middle of the Serengeti. To reach Nyota, you can either fly in (from Zanzibar, Dar, Kilimanjaro or Arusha) or drive (safaris normally start in Arusha). Whilst the drive time is significant (approximately 7 hours), it is usually broken up by a visit to one of the other National Parks, or the incredible Ngorongoro Crater. Driving through Ngorongoro Conservation Area is spectacular and well worth it.

Nyota Luxury Tented Camp is a 30 minute drive from Seronera Airstrip and easy to find! The Orangi river meanders along the Camps’ borders, attracting a wide variety of wildlife. Seronera is an excellent location to stay throughout the year and there is always plenty to see, hear and experience. It is possible to take a Guided walk down to the river to look for wildlife and listen to the gentle babbling of the river. A perfect spot to experience the magic of the Serengeti!
